James Taylor has expressed concern about what happened to his 5-pound dog JUJU last weekend. Taylor claimed that the dog was bloodied and distressed after a groomer had taped Jujur’s lips shut.
Taylor recalled, "My dog clearly was in distress. What I first thought was tape turned out not to be a muzzle. Jujur's paws were visibly red and injured, with the toenails cut too close to the paw, which likely provoked his biting reaction."
Puppy Lux - a mobile salon for pets - employed the groomer to perform these actions.
James took Juju straight to the hospital for emergency medical care. Having joined numerous other accusers of animal abuse, James accused Puppy-Lux. San Mateo's Office has now launched an animal cruelty investigation into Puppy Lux.
James described his observations, saying "I saw wounds in the genital, neck, and near the joints." The cuts were severe enough to cause bleeding."
Jack Smithr - a Puppy Lux client - posted a Yelp comment detailing how his pets had been returned to him unwell or injure. A Snapchat video captured by a customer showed a dog with obvious pain. He claimed that the groomer had forcedly inserted a towel into its ear.
PuppyLux wants customers to also be aware of what groomer told them, as a person they had trusted with their pets. James said, "Jonny told me that tapering the mouth shut was a normal, acceptable method. He claimed it is better than animal abuse birds using a muzzle which, according to him, can be harmful for dogs. He also stated that he personally applies this method to his own dog."
Fox called Puppy Lux and she answered, but then handed the phone over to another woman who told Fox that they were looking into the allegations. However, when questioned about Puppy Lux, she quickly asserted that it was a separate entity before abruptly ending the call.
